Welcome

Welcome... welcome... families, medical practitioners, teachers, special educators, occupational, speech, and physical therapists, mental health professionals, clergy, county workers, personal care attendants and concerned community members. All who would like to achieve this vision:

Change how we define ability through conversations and stories of advocacy, triumph, and promise.

The goal of this blog is to create an on-line community with people who have different experiences and perspectives. Each week a new entry and theme for the week will be posted. At the bottom of each post there will be questions to stimulate conversations and the sharing of stories.

If you would like to contribute your thoughts please enter them in the comment box. If you would like to submit a topic for discussion, be a guest writer or share a resource that you have observed builds potential in others please submit your ideas in this form.

My hope is that through the following guiding principles we can build an on-line community that is open, engaging and fosters learning:

• Keep an open heart and mind to learn from others' conversations and stories.
• Only share stories that you are comfortable with others sharing.
• Listen and honor others' experiences.
• Communicate differing views in a respectful manner.

As you know, once something goes public on the internet it's permanent. Be thoughtful how you decide to post. If you want to write a story that features someone other than yourself that includes a way to identify them, please get permission to share their story.
